Who builds this

Camilo Salazar Ocampo

18 years building the data infrastructure of banks, health insurers, universities and MercadoLibre. Today I apply to small businesses the engineering I learned at large ones.

Camilo Salazar Ocampo

A small business does not need less engineering than a bank

It needs the same engineering, at a smaller scale and without that budget. For almost two decades my job was making sure large companies' data arrived clean, on time and in front of the person who had to decide. The problems of a four-person accounting firm or a wellness center in El Poblado are the same ones, smaller: scattered information, manual processes and decisions made blind.

The difference is that there I can do the whole thing — the person who answers your WhatsApp is the same one who designs, builds and operates your platform. No salesperson making promises, no manager translating, no junior executing. That is why I can build in weeks what an agency quotes in months, and why I can show you the system working before charging you.

The MBA is not decoration: the marketing side is why, on top of building your platform, I can run your ad campaigns and explain to you, in pesos, what they are returning.

Three things I did before doing this

These are not my clients' case studies: they are projects from the corporate stage. I keep them because they explain where the judgment comes from.

80 h → 1 h

An 80-hour process came down to one

On a loyalty platform, every batch of data consumed 80 person-hours. Once automated, it took one hour. 98% less manual work, same result.

40 days → daily

A risk seen too late started being seen today

The anti-money-laundering alert system at a financial cooperative was detecting with a 40-day lag. After redesigning the pipeline, it started alerting every day.

18 people

I led the analytics team at a health insurer

Engineers, analysts and data scientists, building the company’s first corporate data warehouse and the governance framework that holds it up.

Where I learned this
